OFF Mundial Montréal : discover the lineup

OFF Mundial Montréal: ever more discoveries!  

For a second year, Mundial Montréal is keeping the fun going by bringing back the OFF Mundial Montréal to its lineup, an initiative that puts the spotlight on the Montreal scene. On Friday, October 22, audiences and delegates alike will be spoilt for choice with seven shows presented all over the city! This public event promises to introduce everyone to even more new talent on the local scene!  

This year, the teams from the Centre des musiciens du monde, Impresaria, Résonances, MoonSun Musik, Queen & Queer, Frikiton, Sweet Beets Music, Wesli Band WUP Productions and Zion Productions will be joining forces to bring a full line-up to life in addition to the one already announced 

The Wesli Band WUP Productions evening  

Our first stop is the Centre des Mémoires Montréalaises (MEM) at 7:30pm, where will be hosting the Wesli Band WUP Productions evening. Rebecca Jean, Wesli, Tamara Suffren and MOBIO will take to the stage to offer the public a musical experience with a Haitian flavour that’s sure to get them dancing!

An evening at the Centre des Musiciens du Monde  

Join us at the Centre des Musiciens du Monde at 8pm for an evening guaranteed to take you on a journey to the four corners of the globe, with the acoustic duo Silk Road Diaries, inspired by Iranian and Mongolian musical traditions; the Duo Perse-Inca, combining Middle Eastern modal textures and Andean pentatonics with Eastern melodies and Western harmonies; and Siraba, project by Afro-jazz musician Adama Daou, considered one of the world’s leading specialists of the balafon, the 12-blade percussion emblematic of West African culture.

Agent’s Fusion Night  

Impresaria, MoonSun Musik, Résonances and Sweet Beets Music invite you to Les Foufounes Électriques for their Fusion Night, starting at 9:30pm, featuring Mônica Freire, a pioneer of electronic music who marries tradition and modernity to perfection, Kazdoura, who blends old-world Arab classics with jazz, funk, electro-pop and disco, Maracujá, who explores a vast repertoire from Samba to Bossa Nova, and finally Boogát, who skilfully blends hip-hop with Latin music.

Joyce N’Sana to launch her album TÉLAMA  

Starting at 8:30pm, Joyce N’Sana, Radio-Canada’s 2022 Revelation, invites you to the Turbo Haüs to launch her latest album TÉLAMA, which means “get up” in Kikongo, blending Kongo rhythms, blues and hip hop in French, English, Lingala and Kituba. This evening is presented in partnership with Zion Productions.

Salsa Bash by MoonSun Musik 

The Palladium will be transformed into a veritable dance party thanks to Andy Rubal & Son del Sun, whose undeniable charisma will have everyone up on their feet to let themselves be carried away by the incomparable energy that will envelop the hall. The evening, presented by MoonSun Musik, continues with a performance by DJ Ricky Campanelli.

Two partner parties to keep the party going into the wee hours  

Those who can’t get enough will be well served by the late-night parties presented from 10pm by our partners Frikiton and Queen & Queer.  

Frikiton, a Montreal collective dedicated to the celebration of urban Latin culture in all its forms, presents its electrifying “after party” alongside two of the best DJs on the Latin scene, DJ Camm and Lu B

The Queen & Queer electronic music collective invites you to the Ritz PDB for an evening of Arab, Maghreb and Middle Eastern sounds in a festive setting for all to enjoy with DJ Sam and Maya Tayara 

Queen & Queer’s mission is to showcase women’s talent in music and other artistic disciplines, in a queer and safe context. These evenings are aimed at lesbian, bisexual, queer, non-binary and trans women and their friends. Whether you’re 20 or 60, this is your night!

And don’t forget the 5 à 7 at Place des Arts! 

In collaboration with Place des Arts, Mundial Montréal’s official showcase artists will perform twice during the musical 5 à 7s presented at Salon Urbain, events that will be free and open to all. Bia Ferreira and NUNNE will share the stage on Wednesday, November 20, and Briga and Magdala on Thursday, November 21. To close the event, on Friday, November 22, Mundial Montréal welcomes Ramon Chicharron and Le Winston Band!
