As a boutique event, Mundial Montreal has been inviting talent and sounds from around the world to Montreal each November for the past 14 years to perform in front of industry professionals. The event is notable for its carefully selected artists, and by the strength of the connections created between artists and professionals from around fifty regions of the globe.
Mundial Montreal was born of a crazy idea that came during a taxi ride in New York in January 2011 while Sébastien Nasra and Derek Andrews shared a car on the way to an artists' showcase. It was during this frantic race that the two colleagues came to the same conclusion: there is no annual professional meeting in North America that brings together all the music of the world.
Mundial Montréal aims to offer an inclusive and welcoming space for artists and music industry professionals from culturally diverse backgrounds. The event is punctuated through a friendly format where everything is in place to nurture connections, generate tangible export benefits and contribute to a healthy and sustainable musical ecosystem.

The World Routes Network is an initiative recognized by Heritage Canada that brings together Canadian and international presenters every year at Mundial Montreal that are committed to the circulation of artists, prioritizing the promotion of cultural diversity.
Every year, at market events around the world, Mundial Montréal takes part in export initiatives that we refer to as Mundial On The Road: in Europe (WOMEX, Babel Med Music, Tallin Music Week), in the United States (APAP, Folk Alliance International), in Africa (Atlantic Music Expo), etc.
The Indigenous Sounds series highlights artists from Indigenous communities performing as part of Mundial Montreal's programming. It showcases the talent, presence and diversity of various communities across Canada.
In addition to its annual conference, Mundial Montreal is active throughout the year to promote Canadian musical and cultural diversity, and to showcase artists from all backgrounds in front of key industry tastemakers, plus various festivals and conferences around the world.
