WOMEX 2023: Mentoring and unofficial showcases: sign up now!

This year, CAPACOA, Folk Music Ontario, Folquébec, Global Toronto, Small World Music, International Indigenous Music Summit, Mundial Montréal and Sunfest are joining forces to organize a call for artists for professionals participating  in WOMEX 2023 and wishing to develop their international careers. 

We’re looking for participants in our mentorship sessions and performers at an unofficial showcase.  

Participate in a mentoring session presented by Global Toronto!  

Whether it’s your first or your tenth time at WOMEX, there are many challenges to navigate and make the most of this large-scale event. That’s why we are hosting a series of pre-WOMEX mentoring meetings between Tuesday, October 24 at 11 a.m. and Wednesday, October 25 at 4 p.m., to ease your way into the five-day conference.

The B2BBQ and showcases networking event is also back this year, and the unofficial Tuesday evening showcase will feature a range of Canadian artists presenting short performances in a more intimate format.

Call for participants details  

The application is free, but places are limited. Those selected for the cohort will be responsible for their own travel, accommodation and conference badge. Only those who are already planning to attend WOMEX and can afford to travel and stay there should apply. Mentoring participants may be artists or professionals. Participants should plan to arrive by Monday, October 23 or before.  

We are committed to diversity and want to support and work with and for artists from disadvantaged groups, applications from indigenous people, people of colour, refugees, immigrants, 2SLGBTQAI+ people and women.
