WOMEX – Worldwide Music Expo – is the world’s most international and diverse music gathering and the largest conference of the global music scene, featuring an exhibitor marketplace, conferences, films and artist showcases. WOMEX plays an essential role in strengthening global musical culture by celebrating and encouraging artistic creativity through its shows. Its programming is also overseen by an independent, international jury.

Canada and Québec at WOMEX: This is Northern Turtle Island

This year, we are pleased to partner with FACTOR, Canada, Musicaction, Québec, Ontario Creates and Toronto, Canadian partners CAPACOA, CINARS, FolQuébec, Folk Music Ontario, Global Toronto/ Small World Music, International Indigenous Music Summit, Mundial Montréal and Sunfest have joined forces this year to create the collective Canada and Québec at WOMEX: This is Northern Turtle Island. We’re thrilled to introduce you to the professional networking activities organized on-site by the collective.

Meet us in the Northern Turtle Island Alley! Collective members will be available at booths 247-246-245-231-230-229! What’s more, a cocktail party will be held on site each day, where you’ll have the chance to connect with collective members.

CINARS, FolQuébec and Mundial Montréal look forward to seeing you on October 24 at 17:00 at the Pantalan Resto Club under the warm Spanish sun, for an intimate moment where Quebec pros are invited to get together, exchange ideas and connect. The reception will be followed by B2BBQ, where you’ll have the chance to meet the entire Canadian collective at WOMEX, as well as attend the unofficial evening showcases.

For the second year in a row, the Canadian delegation meets informally on the Tuesday evening before WOMEX, sharing a moment together before plunging into the intensity of the conference. The barbecue will give the 70+ members of the Canadian delegation the opportunity to meet and plan strategies ahead of the conference, network with local and other targeted international colleagues, and enjoy musical showcases in a relaxed terrace atmosphere.   

Let’s meet at 18:00 at the Pantalan Resto Club, where you can enjoy a menu of authentic Galician products, while having a good time with your Canadian colleagues. The BBQ will be followed at 19:30 by unofficial showcases from Akawui, Ana Lía, Bruno Capinan, Lara Wong, Ramon Chicharron, Shauit and Waahli.

All together! – Spanish meet Canadians and Quebecers!

All our partners look forward to seeing you on October 25 for a networking event between Canadians/ Quebecers and Spanish delegates, in collaboration with the Canadian Embassy in Spain and the Quebec Office in Barcelona. 

Join us at the Beer Museum (Mundo Estrella Galicia) from 16:00 for tasting and networking in a more intimate format. Enjoy an interactive beer experience, learn more about the origins of Estrella Galicia and network in a relaxed setting.

Join Global Toronto/ Small World Music, International Indigenous Music Summit and Mundial Montréal for two showcases presented as part of offWOMEX, on October 27 at PALEXCO. You’ll have the chance to hear Nimkii & The Niniis at 19:45, and Fawn Wood at 23:15. Two performances you should not missed!
