Mundial Montréal has officially started! Come and say hi at our center of operations at La SAT!
Tonight, the action starts at Sala Rossa with our opening cocktail! Soon after, the opening showcase, in collaboration with Camuz, will bring Ibeyi, Papagroove, Eekwol, Shauit and Samian to the stage! The last 3 artists are part of our “Aboriginal Sounds” series that is sure to take you on a musical journey.
Wednesday night, Mundial Montreal, in collaboration with CIBL and les Syli d’Or will be bringing the sounds of the world to not one but TWO venues! At Club Lambi, come and check out Lemon Bucket Orkestra, Shtreiml & Ismail Fencioglu and Color Violeta, while at Club Balattou, listen to Bumaranga, Écho Kalypso and Lorraine Klaasen.
Thursday is a BIG night! In collaboration with the Montreal International Jazz Fest and Espace MU, Mundial Montreal presents “Women of the World” a special showcase starring Mary Jane Lamond & Wendy MacIsaac, Leela Gilday, Amanda Martinez and Tanya Tagaq, taking place at l’Astral. Right after, at La SAT, Mundial Montreal, in collaboration with M for Montréal and Neon, presents Vox Sambou and A Tribe Called Red.
Friday night at l’Astral, as part of the FIJM’s Jazz à l’année series, our closing show will bring The Soouljazz Orchestra and Colectivo to l’Astral!
That’s not all! Our Free Afternoon Series starts on Wednesday at Les Bobards with Ventanas, Komty, Gurpreet Chana and George Leach. Thursday, Mundial Montreal will be at the le Savoy du Métropolis with Huu Bac Quach, Jaffa Road, La Mandragore and Sagapool. The final free afternoon will take place at Café Campus and will feature Okavango African Orchestra, Surkalén, the Sicilian Jazz Project and Saltarello.

In addition to the music, Mundial Montreal has a professional component of activities. Wednesday and Thursday are full of panels and workshops!
Wednesday at La SAT, we have 2 panels: Staging Cultural Identity as well as A Fireside Chat between Bill Bragin (globalFEST) and Ben Mandelson (WOMEX).
On Thursday at Hotel Zero-1, there will be a variety of panels and worshops that are sure to pique the interest of musicians and industry workers alike. They are: There is Money in Music… Let MROC Show You Where! followed by Mundial & Music Managers Forum Canada present: Strictly Global! and then Not Just an Opinion! How Labour Market Opinion changes are affecting The Industry, and finally Your Wish Has Been Granted: Overview of Recording Grants
