Sur scène, comme à l'extérieur, son humour désarmant contraste avec son répertoire sombre qui s'inspire de sa vie remplie d'aventures heureuses et malheureuses, qu'elle nous chante en anglais et en espagnol.

2011 has been a landmark year for the Brazilian-born singer, percussionist and composer Aline Morales. Her ambitious and eclectic debut solo album “Flores, Tambores e Amores” quickly reached the top on Canada's Folk/World charts. Though rooted Brazilian songs, her music inhabits its own world, where traces of Italian film scores, African sounds and vintage synths flow throughout.

Après avoir sillonné l'Afrique de l'Ouest pendant plus de quarante ans, l'auteur-compositeur-interprète se pose à Montréal en 2005 et présente un premier album éponyme au printemps 2010, sur lequel il livre des chansons originales en langues peul, mandingue et soussou.
A native of the Republic of Guinea, Alpha Thiam was introduced at a young age to singing, guitar playing and West African folk music. After travelling Western Africa for over 40 years, the singer-songwriter moved to Montreal in 2005 and presented his first self-titled album in Spring 2010, a compilation of original songs in Fula, Maninka, and Susu languages.

Discovered in the 1980's by Peter Gabriel's Real World label, Guinean singer-songwriter Alpha Yaya Diallo writes and performs songs in French, English, Fula, and Susu languages. The laureate of three Junos has carved a niche for himself by successfully uniting the traditional and the contemporary beside such West African luminaries as Salif Keita, Baaba Maal, Youssou N'Dour, and Ismael Lo.

The Battle Of Santiago impressively blend Latin jazz, rock, world and dub into a new genre they call “Afro-Cuban Post-Rock”. The project began in Spring 2010 when the members decided to combine bass,saxophone, flute and percussion. A peculiar combination that allows each musician to express himself freely in his own personal sound and style. Their debut album is due for release in 2012.

Né à la Havane, ce musicien autodidacte enrichie ses rythmes syncopés, originaux et progressifs d'influences musicales de Cuba et d'ailleurs. Accompagné de ses musiciens, il fait danser et voyager aux rythmes du conga, du guaguanco, du funk, de la Timba et du reggaeton.
An ambassador of contemporary Cuban music, Carlos Placeres has been evolving around the Quebec scene for over a decade with his socially committed music. Born in Havana, this self-taught musician enriches his syncopated, original, and progressive rhythms with musical influences from Cuba and abroad. Along with his musicians, he takes the audience for a dancing trip into conga, guaguanco, funk, timba and reggaeton.

Originaire de Ann Arbor au Michigan, Stetson développe un style bien à lui au saxophone et à la clarinette avant de lancer ‘New History Warfare, Vol.1'. Aujourd'hui installé à Montréal, le multi-insrumentiste est membre des groupes Sway Machinery et Bell Orchestre, et a mis son talent à contribution avec des artistes et groupes de la trempe de Tom Waits, Arcade Fire, Feist, Lou Reed et David Byrne.

Hamilton based singer-songwriter Kae Sun turned to his native Ghana for inspiration for his new EP, “Outside the Barcode”. The return to his homeland after nine years of living in Canada renewed his creative drive. As a child, Karim grew up with the chaabi music that wafted from the Algerian Kasbah where he was born. He soon turned to musical performance by patiently learning to play banjo, mandolin, and guitar before moving to Canada. Throughout his albums, he brings us an inspiring synthesis of Algerian music, including chaabi, hozi, gnawa, and Andalusian, to which he adds his own personal touch.
